Who is Christian Comair?

Christian Comair is a Lebanese-Canadian engineer and business leader. Specialising in environmental engineering, he is the indirect owner of GET Contracting Company, a Qatar-based company he established in 2005.

GET Contracting Company provides a comprehensive range of engineering services covering many major functional trades, including everything from design, structure and MEP to fit out, faculty management and infrastructure. 

Over the years, GET Contracting Company has spearheaded numerous major construction and restoration projects, including the installation of basalt tiling in Souk Wakif in 2006, an ambitious initiative covering an 80,000-square-meter area. In 2013, GET Contracting Company oversaw the construction of a new coast guard base marina, a development project with a 450,000-square-metre footprint. In 2019, the company successfully completed a new naval base, creating in-block infrastructure as part of the development project.

Career

Prior to launching his own company, Kristian Comair held positions at several prestigious companies. He worked for ENB Ltd Consulting Engineers in Lebanon from 1994 to 2000. In this role, Mr. Comair was responsible for overseeing the first year of the National Emergency Recovery Program, helping to restore water supply and wastewater facilities in North and Mount Lebanon. In addition to rehabilitating 40 treatment plants and stations, the project also saw the rehabilitation of 50 pumping stations for water supply and 190 reservoirs and water towers, as well as the construction of 100 kilometres of sewer lines across 50 different sites. 

Philanthropy

Christian Comair is a committed philanthropist who recognises the importance of giving back. In addition to fundraising and managing a reforestation project and an animal sanctuary, he also spearheaded a scheme providing free buses for residents of Tannourine, Lebanon. Following the Israeli–Lebanese conflict in 2006, Christian Comair oversaw the reconstruction of four major villages in South Lebanon, providing 6,000 homes for local people as well as creating fire stations, 42 schools and 700 religious buildings, including mosques, churches and Khalwa.

Lebanese Industry

Acquiring Sofregaz, a bankrupt French company operating in the oil and gas sector, Christian Comair transformed the company’s fortunes, ensuring its return to profitability and conserving its workforce. Under Mr. Comair’s visionary leadership, Sofregaz today adheres to the highest environmental standards. 

Christian Comair created jobs in Lebanon’s industrial sector, boosting exports of local agricultural products, namely apples. He also spearheaded a project implemented to minimise the impact of low rain levels through the creation of artificial water ponds for use in agriculture around Tannourine. Mr. Comair has also sponsored the Al Sad sports team in Qatar.
