In Cotonou, Benin, Sofregaz was proud to participate in the Benin LNG Regasification Terminal Pre-FEED Construction project in 2019, developing conceptual LNG solutions for the country. Working in partnership with PRINCIPIA, Sofregaz was commissioned by Total Gas Renewables & Power to create a conceptual design for Benin’s new LNG Regasification terminal. The overarching goal of the project was to strengthen the nation’s energy infrastructure by identifying and assessing potential solutions for connecting an FSRU to existing facilities. The FSRU was cited as playing a critical role in the country’s natural gas supply, with its creation bolstering Benin’s industrial and economic growth. In 2020, Sofregaz was commissioned by GNA to enhance Brazil’s FSRU-based energy infrastructure at Porto do Açu, São João da Barra in Rio de Janeiro. Serving as the cornerstone of the country’s growing LNG infrastructure, the GNA LNG Terminal incorporates an FSRU with a 21 MM(n)m³/d peak regasification capacity, with the facility playing a pivotal role in importing LNG and converting it back to natural gas for distribution to thermal powerplants. This project was an integral move in terms of bolstering the nation’s electrical grid, particularly during periods of high energy demand.
In Gdansk, Poland, Sofregaz was proud to partner with Ramboll and Gaz System in the Gdansk FSRU Offshore Project. Completed in 2024, the project was critical in strengthening Poland’s LNG import capabilities, culminating in the creation of an FSRU with a maximum send-out capacity of 12.2 bcma. The terminal, which includes a subsea pipeline, will support LNG transshipment, connecting the terminal to the national gas network and ensuring steady supplies of natural gas to meet Poland’s rising energy needs.
